Building Communities - Yew Street Food Hall Grand Opening

Updated: Feb 7, 2023

Welcome, all foodies! The wait is over for Yew Street Food Hall to open its doors! The team has officially celebrated the Grand Opening of the 7,000-square-foot facility, located on the ground floor of The Colours on Spirit Square condo development at 1-107 Yew Street.

In 2020, the Yew Street Food Hall concept was first introduced to the public by ARPA Investments (ARPA) as an opportunity to bring the global phenomenon of food halls to Kamloops. ARPA is thrilled to have the experience and expertise of Steve and Jeff Mitton on the team as Operating Partners.

“Steve, Jeff, and their team have decades of experience,” said Joshua Knaak, Partner of ARPA Investments. “They understand the industry, and we are confident of their leadership to make the Yew Street Food Hall a successful addition to the North Shore community.”

The food hall introduces a thriving concept; where diners can enjoy different menus from a collection of locally-owned vendors while enjoying a drink in a licensed space. At full capacity, the food hall provides seating for 222 diners, where guests can enjoy a variety of food options from vendors like Duck Duck Pork, Veggie Bomb, Taco Rojas, and Mittz. Co, among many others.

The Mitton brothers are well known for owning and operating Mittz Kitchen downtown and Twisted Steak, moving to the downtown area in a few months from Aberdeen. Jeff and Steve possess a combined experience of over 50 years in the hospitality industry, and they are confident that their knowledge and expertise will make the Yew Street Food Hall a staple in the community.

“It’s an exciting time for us as we celebrate the Grand Opening of the food hall,” said Jeff Mitton. “I have had the good fortune of visiting food halls worldwide, and I believe we can take this popular concept from other markets and make it a success here in our community.”

The collaborative kitchen space supports smaller-scale restaurants and provides an outlet to reach new audiences. Jeff, Steve and their team oversee the operations of the Yew Street Food Hall and the anchor restaurant while supporting vendors.

“This model limits some of the risks and serves as a great opportunity for newer restaurants before they commit to potentially running a larger space,” said Jeff.

The team at Yew Street Food Hall is thrilled to welcome people to explore a world of flavours in one unique location.
