The Colours on Spirit Square Officially Opens

KAMLOOPS, B.C. – A bright red ribbon was cut today signifying the completion of The Colours on Spirit Square development at the corner of Yew and Mackenzie streets on Kamloops’ North Shore followed by a BBQ for residents. Phase one of the project— affordable housing—was brought to life through a collaborative partnership with ASK Wellness, the Stollery Foundation, the City of Kamloops, BC Housing, and ARPA Investments. Phase two—market units and commercial space—was developed by the team at ARPA.

“What’s most remarkable about ARPA, in our experience, is seeing them play a vital role in creating an inclusive community involving so many different stakeholders,” said Bob Hughes, Chief Executive Officer of ASK Wellness Society. “Their approach is about problem-solving and not at the expense of other people. We are so pleased to officially cut the ribbon to mark a new chapter for this beautiful area and the community of Kamloops.”

The Stollery Suites, the first phase of the project, has 43 suites built for seniors and people with disabilities within the community. The second phase has 38 residential market units paired with street-level commercial space set to become the Yew Street Food Hall later this summer. The Food Hall already has eight of their 10 confirmed vendors signed and is working toward opening in the fall. The development shares the revitalized Spirit Square Park that was developed in 2009 to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of British Columbia becoming a British Colony.

“Working alongside our partners toward finding innovative solutions that promote the future growth of this vibrant and diverse neighbourhood has been something our team has thoroughly enjoyed,” said Joshua Knaak, Partner, ARPA Investments. “Our outreach through community engagement provided us with a deeper understanding of the area’s needs. This then allowed us to create an attractive set of buildings that in turn introduced 81 new individuals and families to the Tranquille Market Corridor, who will further support the many existing businesses and services for years to come.”

The Colours on Spirit Square is ARPA’s third residential/commercial project located on Kamloops’ North Shore. The overwhelming success of The Station on Tranquille, Stollery Suites, and the now sold-out Colours on Spirit Square have brought economic stimulus to the area and attracted the attention of new developers.

ARPA Investments is getting set to release further details on their next residential /commercial venture located at the 300 block of Tranquille early this summer.
